Resumption of Sunday Mass Obligation
Bishop Larry Silva announces the "Resumption of Sunday Mass Obligation":
Effective Easter Sunday, April 4 (or as of the Easter Vigil, April 3), I am ending the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, which has been in effect since mid-March, 2020. However, anyone who is sick, may have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19, or who has a health condition that would endanger themselves or others by being present in church, continues to be dispensed.

Bishop's Letter on COVID-19 Vaccines
COVID-19
Vaccine
"As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, this new year brings some hope in controlling the virus through vaccines. The State of Hawaii vaccination plan is being implemented at this time. You may have some moral or ethical concerns regarding the potential contents (compromised cell lines/fetal cells) of these vaccines in relation to our Catholic teaching and faith." Master Plan Update - August 16, 2020
On July 20th & 21st in-person & virtual interviews of the 4 selected General Contractors were conducted. The 4 contractors selected were Arita Poulson, Design Build Hawaii, Maryl, & Nordic/PCL. General questions for all contractors included:
* Provide a contractor’s site utilization plan, perimeter security fencing, vehicular access, worker parking, construction trailer, restrooms, hand washing stations, etc.
* What procedures will you utilize to comply with State & Federal guidelines for COVID-19?
* Discuss processes & procedures for monitoring costs, schedule, constructability?
* What defines a successful pre-construction effort?
* What are your expectations of the owner/Parish?
* What are the individual experience levels of project manager, superintendent, & estimator on similar projects?
Some examples of contractor-specific questions:
* Beyond estimating, what other project aspects will your team evaluate?
* What is your opinion of the effectiveness of changing to Design Build for the MEP systems?
* Were the trades that you will be self-performing also put out to bid?
* Define the included scope for utilities, electrical, lighting, & communication?
Discussion & analysis of contractor responses between the Design Team & the Parish Planning & Building Committee to these & other questions resulted in the selection of Design Build Hawaii as our contractor for Design Assist Pre-Construction services.
The table below summarizes the capital campaign progress and financial status.
