Resumption of Sunday Mass Obligation
Bishop Larry Silva announces the "Resumption of Sunday Mass Obligation":
Effective Easter Sunday, April 4 (or as of the Easter Vigil, April 3), I am ending the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, which has been in effect since mid-March, 2020. However, anyone who is sick, may have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19, or who has a health condition that would endanger themselves or others by being present in church, continues to be dispensed.

Bishop's Letter on COVID-19 Vaccines
COVID-19
Vaccine
"As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, this new year brings some hope in controlling the virus through vaccines. The State of Hawaii vaccination plan is being implemented at this time. You may have some moral or ethical concerns regarding the potential contents (compromised cell lines/fetal cells) of these vaccines in relation to our Catholic teaching and faith." Master Plan Update - June 14, 2020
On Friday May 29th an RFP (Request for Proposal) and Geotechnical Survey. associated Exhibits A (Scope of Services), C (Fee Break-down), D (Alternate/Value Engineering Bids), F (Proposed Subcontractors), and G (Form of Agreement) were released to 8 General Contractors. Contractors have been given until June 30th to submit their proposals. Although they can submit questions (RFI’s-Request for Information) they must do so in writing by June 19th so it can be documented and the response shared with all contractors. Exhibit A lays out specifically what we would be engaging them to do. This RFP is for “Pre-Construction Services” only, NOT Construc-tion. We will make that decision after all the bids are analyzed, a short list developed, and interviews scheduled. The following items were included in the RFP:
-
The final drawings & Specifications that accompany the drawings.
-
Hazmat Survey.
-
Approved CUP (Conditional Use Permit) application.
-
CUP minor modification relocating the new church.
-
Fee Breakdown Forms for the contractor to list very specifically their Opinion of Probable Cost.
-
Form allows for value engineering alternates with cost not covered in the drawings.
-
Form where the contractor lists all their subcontractors.
-
Diocesan Contract for Construction Services.
Walkthroughs with the General Contractors are scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th and interviews with selected contractors tentatively scheduled for some time in July.
