Aloha OLPH Family,
Please read the GUIDELINES FROM BISHOP LARRY SILVA, BISHOP OF HONOLULU FOR THE REOPENING OF CATHOLIC CHURCHES IN HAWAII DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC (May 22, 2020)

It's advisable that you read through the Guidelines. Thank you so much for your faithfulness and continued prayers.

After months of COVID-19 lock-down, here are the OLPH Re-opening guidelines that will be inforce to allow us to gather in person as a faith community.  Please read the guidelines because they contain valuable information that will allow you to make reservations and secure the tickets for the Mass you and your family would like to attend.  A ticket is required for each person to attend Mass.  Click the link below for the guidelines.

Catholics Care.  Catholics Vote.  We vote because we are citizens.  But we vote conscientiously because we are people of faith. Our consciences are formed through studying Scripture and the teachings of the Church, examination of the facts, and prayerful reflection.  This brief insert is intended as a starting point to help us respond to our choices in the current political landscape.

Master Plan Update - April 5, 2020

On March 24, 2020 a formal RFQ was released to 13 General Contractors.  RLB contacted each of the contractors by email and/or telephone to gauge their interest in our project.  9 of 13 contractors showed definite interest in participating in our project in a Design Assist environment.

• Qualification proposals are due back from the contractors on Wednesday April 15th and selection is to be made Monday May 4th.  (We may have to either delay selection or attempt selection on-line)
• May 2020 is still targeted as release of the RFP
• RFP proposals are due in June 2020 and the start of services later that month.

During this stage of the process we will be attempting to select our contractor partner in the Design Assist program.  The selected contractor will become part of the Design Team with the hope being further value engineering to reduce cost in either methodology or materials to be used on our project.  The selected contractor will be invited to bid through the Request for Proposal (RFP).  The awarded contract would be only for pre-construction services through construction documents (CD), not construction itself.  The construction award would be made only after:

• We have determined a final construction cost that is within our affordability range
• Completion of an updated cash flow analysis with new cost numbers and updated loan interest rates
• Construction Loan through the Diocese (Interest only currently 4.75%)
• Post Construction Loan through the Knights of Columbus (P & I currently @ 4.04% 20 yrs.)
• Approval from Diocese to proceed with construction
• Approval from the Vatican since the Knights of Columbus loan requires the use of stable patrimony as security for the loan which will be in excess of $3 million

Mahalo for your continued donations to our food pantry.  This past weekend we distributed over 200 bags of groceries to our neighbors in need.  Thanks to all the volunteers who helped in the preparation and distribution.
Please continue to be generous as we to have plan another food distribution at the end of August.
