Ma Ke Kula Update (Parish Planning and Building Committe)- November 15, 2015 Bulletin
PARISH PLANNING AND BUILDING COMMITTEE
(FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE “MA KE KULA” COMMITTEE)
In our previous updates, we informed the parish that we had completed our masterplan and provided this information to Bishop Larry Silva. While our proposal and plan were both well-received, Bishop Larry asked the committee to once again look at retaining some of the Ma Ke Kula property for future expansion or future sale. The committee worked with First Hawaiian Bank and other lending institutions to determine what was in the art of the possible with regard to retaining some of the land for future expansion or sale. Through the information provided by the banks and consultation with Department Directors at the Diocese, we again determined that the best way forward was to sell the property in order to help fund our capital improvement plan. On October 27, Bishop Larry gave us permission to move forward without restriction on the sale of the Ma Ke Kula property.
Our next steps will be to meet with several commercial brokers recommended by the Diocese of Honolulu to explore the various options available to us for the sale of the property. We will continue to engage with the Diocese as the vetting process unfolds as well as keeping the parish apprised of our progress.
We will begin our capital campaign in January 2016! Committees are being formed now and we are looking for HELP. If you would like to help in one of the new committees, we ask that you first pray on this before committing your talents in stewardship of the parish. Thank you in advance for your support as we continue our journey to build our new church and remodel our school.
Blessings to you all!!!!
