MA KE KULA UPDATE
We have received the final draft of the church master plan and are now reviewing the draft for completeness and accuracy. Once we have finished our review and provided our feedback, Saavedra Gehlhausen Architects will provide OLPH the final documents for our new church.
In addition, the committee sent out a request for qualification (RFQ) to find a fundraising service to assist us with our parish capital campaign, which is needed to build the new church and to remodel the school. Of the 11 companies we invited to help us, CCS Fundraising, Development Services, Strategic Consulting was determined to be the only qualified service.
Members of the Ma Ke Kula (MKK) Committee, led by Father Ed, subsequently, met with the Diocesan Department Directors on 14th April. During this meeting, Bruce Graham, the Diocesan attorney, provided us with various options for selling the Ma Ke Kula property. We were given great support by the department heads of the Diocese in the development of our plan.
Members of the committee, Father Ed, Deacon Ron and Vince Guerreiro, also met with CCS on 17th April in order to help CCS better understand what we are trying to do.
This past week, the MKK committee met to review all the previous meeting discussions and to address our future plans. It was determined that the best way for OLPH to retire the existing debt of the Ma Ke Kula property was to find a developer/broker to purchase all the property in bulk. This is consistent with the advice we received from the Diocesan attorney. We are now in the process of formally notifying the Diocese of our decision and requesting their assistance in making the sale of MKK as fruitful and simple for OLPH as possible. There are more meetings scheduled in the future, and we will continue to keep all of you informed as we walk this path towards our new church and our remodeled school.
