Ma Ke Kula Update - May 18, 2014 Bulletin

After the Space Planning focus groups are conducted with the architects on June 9th and 10th , Dan and Guy in concert with planners from Design Partners, Inc., a Honolulu-based design firm, will begin the arduous task of summarizing and analyzing all of the data they have acquired about the existing conditions of our site and structures, population growth, local zoning & code requirements, and all of the ideas uncovered in the questionnaires and focus groups.  All of this information will aide them in determining the appropriate sizes of existing and/or future structures through 2035 and begin to answer questions that will guide us through the Master Planning process.  Does the church or school need to be expanded due to population growth?  How many parking spaces are required?  What role does the Ma Ke Kula property play in our future?  What zoning and permitting issues would we face in any future expansion or construction?  These are just a few examples of the broader questions to be answered and will be followed by many more.  Is this the end of the Master Planning process?  Is this the only opportunity for us to provide input into the planning process?  Once again, the short answer is “no”.  Next week we’ll discuss the next phase of the project.
