Ma Ke Kula Update - March 23, 2014 Bulletin

As we finalize the contract with Saavedra Gehlhausen the committee would like to describe the process that they will take.  Prior to the official kickoff demographic research will be done in order to update the Diocesan Leeward Vicariate demographic study conducted in 2010 by Helber, Hastert & Fee. This will assist the architects in determining the growth of the Parish through the planning horizon.  It is anticipated that the Master Planning process will kick off sometime in April although the date has not been finalized.  The architects will begin with a field investigation of existing building conditions which includes both the structural integrity of the church and school, measurements, electrical service, water and sewer, and the evaluation of local zoning and code requirements.  At the same time they will meet with all ministry heads, church leadership, and school administrators to introduce and train them on the use of questionnaires for gathering the thoughts and desires of all members.  This will be followed by scheduling focus group meetings for all interested parishioners.  The information gathered during this process will be used to guide the architects through the development of space requirements in the Master Plan and serve as the starting point of the planning process.
