Social Outreach Ministry

… a faith-filled community for all cultures and ages dedicated to building the Kingdom of God … we provide a sense of belonging to all God’s people through prayer, service, and the sharing of our gifts … (OLPH Parish Mission Statement)

We are a group of men and women who provide direct service to the homeless, the low income, elderly, and the needy in our community.

We distribute non-perishable food, toiletries, household products, clothing as follows:

1. Every 3rd Saturday at Westloch Villages
2. Every last Friday of the month at OLPH Breezeway

We also service the homeless US veterans at Barbers Point and the Onelauena Transitional Homeless Center, also in Barbers Point.

What do we do?

1. Collect non-perishable items
2. Sort, shelve, and bag goods the day before distribution
3. On the day of distribution: set up paper works and bags, etc.
4. We might have to make more bags on the day of distribution
5. At the end of service, return to Food Pantry all extra bags and clean up the place

Projects:

1. “Secret Santa” for US Vets at Christmas Time
2. Veterans Day Dinner or Lunch for US Vets on Veterans Day
3. Toys for children at Christmas for Onelauena Transitional Housing
4. Christmas Lunch for Westloch Villages in cooperation with Coalition of Churches
5. Bingo for Seniors at OLPH Breezeway as scheduled

Meeting:  Third Thursday of the month, 7:00 pm in church, or as necessary
