 FOOD PANTRY IN NEED

Cup of Noodles Ramen

After a very successful food distribution last month, our cupboards are bare once more.  So, next weekend, February 4th & 5th, is Ramen or Cup of Noodles Weekend.  Your donation will make a huge difference in helping those in need.  Thank you so much for your continued generosity with our pantry clients!

…is a faith-filled community for all cultures and ages dedicated to building the Kingdom of God … (OLPH Parish Mission Statement)

As members of the Body of Christ, we follow Jesus’ example. Along with parents, we work together to spread God’s Word to our young children, keeping IT alive in them, thereby activating their full potential to become MATURE and RESPONSIBLE CHRISTIANS.

A Catechist is:  a faith facilitator, an instructional leader, a life learner, a team member, a bridge builder, and a people person.

Requirements:  Creating and Maintaining Safe Environment Certification, Tract I and Tract II Catechists Certifications.

Job Description:

As a WITNESS, a catechist strives to set an example of Christian living, uses language and tone of voice in class as an example of Christianity, gives his/her students fair and unbiased treatment, and remembers that he/she must set an example for Christ even if he/she is on “his/her own time”.

He/she prepares well for the class, strives to make the class interesting by using a variety of techniques and materials, considers the possibility of attending adult enrichment lectures, classes for catechists and staff meetings, reads the Hawaii Catholic Herald to maintain a current  knowledge of the Church today.

He/she tries to check that the concepts and learning materials for the students have been adequately covered and digested by majority of his/her children, strives to explain the lessons of the textbook in such a manner that each child can understand, uses Audio-Visual to  enhance teaching, tries to understand each child, and makes sure the classroom is neat and clean before he/she leaves.
