Children's Liturgy of the Word

… we come closer to God by following Jesus Christ through His Word and the Sacraments…(OLPH Parish Mission Statement)

We celebrate the Liturgy of the Word (the first part of the Mass) with the children in their own level, at the 9 am Mass, 11:00 am Mass and the 5:00 pm Mass on Sunday.  After the Opening Prayer at Mass, we escort the children to the breezeway where we proclaim the First Reading, Responsorial Psalm, Gospel, Homily, Creed, and General Intercession.

Requirements:
1. Like to work with children
2. Attend or take the on-line course on Safe Environment Training

What do we do?
1. At home, we prepare for the weekly readings and interactive homilies (worksheet is provided).
2. On Sunday, prepare the breezeway for environment.  Materials are in Julia’s office.
3. After the Opening Prayer at Mass, lead the children to the breezeway
4. Proclaim the readings
5. Lead the interactive homily, Creed, and General Intercession
6. Lead the children back to the Church
